About Ethan Hanson

Ethan Hanson was born and raised in New Braunfels, Texas. He was raised by a single mom who passed on her love of live music and powerful lyrics to her son. When he was young, she would take him around town and engulf him in New Braunfels' bustling live music scene. Then, when his mother was busy working hard his grandfather would fill her shoes and take Ethan to see live, local acts. At the age of 8, Ethan began to take guitar lessons and learned quickly. Still listening and watching, he dreamed about writing and playing up on the stages he had grown up around. Around age 12 or 13, Ethan began to dive deeper into the dark abyss of great songwriters and got sucked in. Legendary writers like Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Rodney Crowell, Radney Foster, Patty Griffin, John Prine, and so many more became huge inspirations and favorites of the young man. He wasn't just listening anymore, he was studying. At age 15, Ethan's grandfather, who was like a father to him, passed away and to cope with the grief that came along with that experience, he began writing his own songs. After a couple of years of writing and sitting on his songs, he worked up enough courage to go and play a few of them at a local open-mic. The feedback was good and gave him confidence, but there was still a lot of work to do. After about a year of playing open-mics, honing his stage presence and songs, Ethan finally played his first solo show. After that, he has never looked back. Since that time, Ethan has played countless shows all over the state. In 2018, he was named runner-up at the Old -Settler's Music Festival youth competition and in September of 2020, won a 6 week competition in College Station and has played with or opened for acts such as Josh Grider, John Baumann, Rich O'toole and Aaron Watson. He is also currently working on recording and releasing his first few songs to the world later in 2021, as well as traveling anywhere between Lubbock and Nacogdoches to play shows over the summer. He is working on continuing to get better and growing as a musician, writer and a performer. He has come a long way, but is excited for whatever comes next.
